Eclipse at Half Moon Celebrates Reopening in Montego Bay, Jamaica
Half Moon has officially reopened its Eclipse property, marking a major step in the resort’s recovery following Hurricane Melissa last October.
At the recent reopening ceremony, leaders lauded the staff and management team for their work in restoring operations at the iconic resort. The event also marked a historic moment for Jamaica’s tourism sector, with Shernette Crichton being promoted to the post of managing director of Half Moon, becoming the first Jamaican and first female to hold the position.
Tourism Minister, Hon. Edmund Bartlett used the occasion to highlight continued support for tourism workers. He said the Tourism Workers Pension Scheme (TWPS) is projected to reach $10 billion in savings by the end of 2027, with $2 billion earmarked as seed funding to establish a dedicated Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) for workers across the sector.
The reopening of Eclipse signals both recovery and renewed confidence in Jamaica’s tourism product as the sector continues to surge.
